1. Overview

The protection of your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how skillreveal may collect, store and use the personal information you provide when using the Service. Service includes the website www.skillreveal.io (the “Website”) and any related content, software, applications, materials and/or services made available by skillreveal.io through the Website. We will collect, process and use your personal data in compliance with applicable European, German and Ukrainian data protection laws.

By agreeing to our Privacy Policy you agree to the collection, processing and use of your personal data in compliance with the laws applicable to the protection of personal data and the following provisions. Please read it.

2. What is personal data?

Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. A person is identifiable, if the person can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identification number or to one or more factors specific to his physical, physiological, mental, economic, cultural or social identity. This may include data such as e.g. name, email address, telephone number and mailing address. We process your data in the context of our service only when you have given us your consent to do so, the data is necessary for the performance of the contract or where it is permissible by law.

You may withdraw your consent to the processing of personal data at any time. A revocation has direct influence on the admissibility of the processing of your personal data as soon as directed to us.

If the processing of your personal data is based on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to processing the personal data. If you exercise your right of objection, we kindly ask you to explain the reasons why we should not process your personal data. If your objection is justified, we will review the facts and adjust or modify the processing of data or inform you about imperative legitimate grounds for the processing.

We will delete your personal data as soon as the data is no longer necessary for the respective purpose. It may occur that personal data is kept for the time during which possible claims may be asserted against us (for example statutory limitation period of three or in some cases, thirty years). Furthermore, we are required by law to store certain data due to the duties of proof and retention, inter alia from the German Commercial Code, the German Tax Code or the Money Laundering Act. The storage periods can be up to ten years.

3. Types of collected information

You may visit our Website without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. You may provide certain personal information if you register an account or use the Service.

4. Visit our website

We may combine other publicly available information with the information that you provide to us to enhance and optimise our Websites and Services for you. skillreveal may observe your activities, interactions, preferences, and other computer and connection information (such as IP address and geographic location) relating to your use of the Websites and the Services. we may also use log files, cookies and similar technologies to collect information about the pages you view, links you click on, and other actions you may take when accessing the Websites and Services. We may collect and store this information and combine this information with other personal information you may have provided.

When you visit our website, information in the form of cookies may be stored on your device. A cookie is a small text file that is sent from a web server to your browser and stored on your device. When you revisit our website, cookie data is transmitted to our web server again. We may then, for example, recognise you again and take your individual settings into account when displaying the website.

You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your browser. If a cookie blocking setting is selected on your browser, however, you may be unable to access certain parts of our Website or to receive certain Services.

In the following you will find further information about the tracking technologies used and information from providers about data processing. In addition, there are links to the privacy policy of the provider and an explanation on how you can prevent web tracking. Typically, in such cases, an “anti-tracking cookie” is stored on your device preventing the collection of usage data from your device by the respective provider. Please note: in case you delete cookies from your device, you may have to set the "anti-tracking cookie" again.

4.1 Google Analytics

We use the web analysis tool Google Analytics, developed by Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies": text files that are saved on your computer and enable the analysis of your usage of a website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (including your IP address) is transferred to a server of Google in the EU and saved there. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports about website activity for website operators, and to provide other services relating to website and online usage. Google may also pass this information on to third parties if this is required by law or if these third parties process the data on behalf of Google. Google will not link your IP address to any other data about you it has stored.

You can prevent the installation of cookies by adjusting the settings in your browser software accordingly; please note though that you may not be able to use all the features of the skillreveal website in full as a result. Google also offers so-called deactivation tools for some web browsers, where you can opt out of your user behaviour being recorded and analysed. 4.2. Google Double-Click, Google AdWords Conversion

We use Google Analytics to evaluate data from the Google services AdWords and DoubleClick for statistical purposes. In order to improve our offers, we can analyse what happens after a user clicks on our ad, e.g. whether the user has accessed the ad from a mobile phone. You will also receive interest-based advertising through these services. DoubleClick places a cookie on your computer to record your surfing behaviour on various websites (tracking) and to play out interest-related advertising. 4.3. Google Tag Manager

This website uses Google Tag Manager to manage website tags. A tag is a JavaScript snippet used to send information from a website to recipients, in particular in the context of web tracking.

The Google Tag Manager tool itself does not collect any personal data. The tool triggers other tags that may collect data (e.g. the Google Analytics tag). Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If deactivation has been made at the domain or cookie level, it will remain in effect for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager. This makes it easier to effectively implement your need against tracking procedures.

Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, which ensures the level of protection of natural persons guaranteed by GDPR is not undermined through data transfers (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active).

4.4. HotJar

We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimise this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device's IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

4.5. Facebook Pixel

We use the so-called "Facebook Pixel" developed by Facebook Inc., to create "custom audiences". This serves the purpose of optimising our advertising in the social network Facebook, of placing only relevant advertising there, and measuring the success of our Facebook advertising campaigns. The Facebook Pixel makes it possible for Facebook to identify visitors to the skillreveal website as a target group for the display of ads in the social network Facebook.

5. Register and use services on our website 

With every access of our Service data related to this event is being saved to a protocol file or database on the server of our hosting service provider. This also applies to data you enter in order to use the Service or contact us.

We collect the aforementioned data as this is technically necessary for us to be able to display our website and to ensure the stability and security of the website. The legal basis of this processing is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR.

It is important to note that this Privacy Policy does not apply to any other data, such as any personal data that may be included in the files, documents, recordings, chat logs, transcripts, and similar data that we maintain on our customers’ behalf, as well as any other information our customers may upload to their account(s) in connection with their use of our Service or information gathered from other channels, such as publicly available sources. 

5.1. Contact Form

We process your personal data when you use our contact form. If you contact us via the contact form provided, your details will be stored in order to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis is either the performing of a contract obligation or our legitimate interest in providing a contact form (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

You are neither obliged to contact us via the contact form nor to provide personal data. If you do not provide your personal information, we may not be able to process your request. Otherwise there will be no consequences for you.

If you register for our community, we will process your email address and add it to the community communication email group. You can unsubscribe from the community and object to email advertising at any time. An option to do so will be included in every community communication letter or email containing advertisement we may send you.


5.2. Information you provide to us

This refers to data we obtain from you directly and information you publish and send on skillreveal.io such as:

  • Login details (e.g. username and password)
  • Personal information (e.g. name, job title, company name, industry, location, contact options, photo, website or social profiles)
  • Profile information (e.g. industry, skill profile, expertise)
  • Skill profile (e.g your skills and assessed level of competence)
  • Job expectations (e.g. salary, company type, contract type, desired locations, private interests)
  • Messages, group posts, event participation, billing details

This includes data that we have obtained from you directly and information that you publish or send on skillreveal website. There are both mandatory entry fields and optional information you can provide.

Your login data is not visible to third parties. We will not ever pass this information on to third parties under any circumstances. 

Your contact information is visible to registered users if you decide so, otherwise it is hidden from other users. 

Your profile information and skill profile information is always visible without limitation to other users if you decide to share it using a unique URL.  

Job expectations of the Talent or salary budget of Companies vacancies, are not publicly displayed on the Website and can be seen only when there is a mutual match/unmatch of the parties.

We delete your personal information when you delete your user account.

6. Information you provide during interview 

If you elect to use the interviewing functions of the Service, you are solely responsible for the information that you choose to provide during such interviews. Although we instruct interviewers not to share replays of interviews, any information shared during an interview (either by an interviewer or interviewee as applicable) is not confidential. Accordingly, please be aware that while we take your privacy seriously, we cannot guarantee that your interviewer or interviewee will not share information that you disclose during an interview to other persons.

By accepting this Privacy Policy, you are giving skillreveal, a consent to store interview recordings. You will be notified when recording is enabled. If you do not consent to being recorded by video, you can choose to record audio only, otherwise you can choose to leave the interview.

For scheduling we use the service Calendly (Calendly LLC, 3423 Piedmont Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30305-1754, USA), ONSCHED (TASMAN TECHNOLOGIES INC. C.O.B. ONSCHED, 121 Edgecliffe Pl., Burlington, ON. Canada) OR  Google Calendar (a service by Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The aforementioned providers are adequately obligated under data protection agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Calendly, OnSched and Google are located in the USA; in order to guarantee an adequate level of data protection, we have entered into the EU standard contractual clauses with Calendly, whereas Google LLC and OnSched are certified via the EU-US-Privacy Shield.

Usually we will offer you to participate in a video interview via Google Hangouts (a service by Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) or Zoom (a service by Zoom Video Communications Inc., 55 Almaden Boulevard, 6th Floor, San Jose, CA95113, USA). Reference is made to section 5 regarding these providers Transfer to Recipients of Personal Data within the EEA

If you sync your contacts or calendars with our Services, we will collect your calendar meeting information to see your availability details. 

7. Apply for a job with us

When you apply for a job with us directly, we will process the data received from you for the purposes of establishing contact and reviewing your suitability for the position you apply for (e.g CV, website or social profiles) The legal basis for this is § 26 BDSG.

If we make you an offer to join us, we will process the necessary data required from you for this purpose. 

We will transfer personal data to third parties Providers for application management only where necessary for the provision of our service or otherwise allowed by the law. Within the scope of the purposes stated here, personal data are transferred to service providers involved in the provision of our services. In addition to their legal obligation to comply with all data protection regulations, these service providers are bound to additional contractual data protection requirements. 

In other cases, we transfer personal data to other recipients only if there is a legal justification or you have expressed your consent. Any consent given can be revoked at any time with effect for the future. We will only disclose your data to government authorities within the framework of statutory obligations or as a result of an official order or court decision and only insofar as this is permitted under data protection law.

We will store the application files with your documents. Should your application not be successful, we will delete the data received from you within six months; however, we may merely store your name and date of birth for up to two years, in order to recognize repeated applications. You can decide to stay in our talent pool so that we can reuse your documents for further applications and save the time for you. In such case, we will contact you once we do have a suitable vacant position. 

You may withdraw your consent at any time following the URL in the email footer or writing to leavepool@skillreveal.io. In this case we will delete your application from the pool. Your Applicant data is also being processed by the provider Recruitee (Recruitee B.V., Keizersgracht 313, 1016 EE Amsterdam, The Netherlands.) based on our instructions.

8. Visit our social network presence including our Facebook Page and Discord channel

We operate presences in the following social networks: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Xing, Discord. We use these presences to provide information about us and to communicate with the respective users. This data protection declaration also applies to such online presences.

If you contact us via social networks – e.g. for the purposes of an application or other inquiry – we process your data as described in this data protection declaration. The legal basis for such processing is our legitimate interest in public relations and communications (Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1, lit. f GDPR), unless otherwise specified.

The providers of the above mentioned social networks regularly process data of their users for advertising purposes and create usage profiles based on the activities of their users. The relevant providers also use cookies and other tracking technologies for such purposes. We do not control such processes. You will find detailed information on this in the privacy policies of the relevant provider. There you will also find information regarding your rights vis-à-vis the relevant provider.

Moreover, we note that providers of social networks may process user data outside the European Economic Area, e.g. USA. This may involve a lower data protection standard than within the EU, and the enforcement of data protection rights based on EU law may be more difficult. To the extent specified below, however, providers of social networks have accepted the EU-US Privacy Shield and are thus obligated to adhere to European data protection standards:

When you visit or interact with our Facebook Page, your personal data (e.g., "Like" information) is processed as explained in this section.

Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, D2 Dublin, Ireland, (“Facebook”) provides us with statistics and insights that help us understand the use of our Page (“Page Insights”). In this case, Facebook and skillreveal are jointly responsible for data processing (“Joint Controllers”).

The legal basis for processing your personal Data is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We use information you provide via your Facebook profile or by visiting our Facebook Page through your Browser to provide the functionalities of our Facebook Page. This may include checking the reach of our posts; defining our audience more accurately; customizing advertisements to fit our audience and designing our Facebook Page to match the actual interests of our visitors.

This includes:

  • Age
  • Geographical data
  • Shopping habits
  • Browsing habits

We process this data in our legitimate interest to maintain the functions of our Facebook Page; to review our reach and to design and display our Facebook Page in accordance with your interests. 9. Provide your job or company information

As a company user you can post company jobs and share company information to other users of the system. 

Company users account includes additional information such as 

  • Company summary (name, logo, location, social networks, professional description, office photos);
  • vacancy summary (vacancy description, skills, responsibilities, requirements, description of the Company, projects or products, work conditions)
  • activities on the website, including analytics and matches related to Companies.

Company users can delete/change this information anytime on skillreveal.io. Applicants information who applied to the jobs/company is available within limited by consent (6 month) timeframes or until talent revokes the consent. 

Company information is publicly available to all users except application history and budget of company vacancies. Salary budget of Companies vacancies, are not publicly displayed on the Website and can be seen only when there is a mutual match/unmatch of the parties.

10. People you want to invite others 

As a user, you can invite other people to join and use skillreveal. We process the data recorded here solely for this purpose.

If you use your unique invitation URL, all invited users have to consent and confirm your invitation to start using skillreveal.io. If you choose to invite other people using email, after a certain period we send out a reminder e-mail ("automatic reminder") on your behalf to the person you invited. 

Every person you invite has the option to object to invitations being sent to their e-mail address from that point onwards.

Please note that, depending on the invitation feature used, recipients may be shown the following information in the invitation you send:

  1. Your name
  2. Your company
  3. Your position
  4. Your e-mail address
  5. Your photo
  6. Your user status

11. Use of Collected Data

skillreveal uses the information we collect about you to:

  • Provide you with the Websites and Services, together with any support you may request;
  • Respond to your inquiries or fulfill your requests;
  • Personalize our Website for you;
  • Diagnose Website and Service technical problems;
  • Improve our Services by helping us to understand how you use our Website;
  • Send you technical notices, support, administrative and marketing messages;
  • Communicate with you about products, services, promotions, events and other news and information we think will be of interest to you;
  • Honoring our contractual obligations to you, e.g. inform you about possible connections (Interview invites) via the platform, email or phone.
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities in connection with our Website and services;
  • Prevent, detect, mitigate, and investigate fraudulent or illegal activity;
  • Provide third parties with statistical information about our Users (but those third parties will not be able to identify any individual User from that information);
  • Link or combine personal data we collect from or about you.

In order to be able to identify you as a valuable business contact or potential employee, we may show other users information about your personal website usage. This might include your level of user activity, the number of things you have in common with a respective profile visitor, events you have attended, the number times you have visited a user’s profile, how long you have been a member and what kind of membership you have.

12. Who may receive information about you?

We do not sell, lease, rent or give away the information collected about You without your permission. We only disclose your information as described below. If we disclose your information, we require those we share it with to comply with adequate privacy and confidentiality requirements, and security standards.

We only pass your personal data on to third parties when this is required to fulfil our business purposes (i.e. in particular to perform the services we are obliged to provide you with, e.g. making your profile available to another user), when you have given your consent to this (e.g. when using an external application), or when we are obliged to on legal grounds, by court order, or at the request of another official authority.

In cases where we work together with external service providers for our data processing (e.g. in software development), this is usually carried out on an order processing basis, whereby we remain responsible for data processing. We review each of these service providers beforehand with regard to the measures they have undertaken to ensure data protection and data security, thereby safeguarding the contractual provisions as stipulated by law for the protection of the personal data.


12.1. Third countries

Data may be transferred to third countries. This however shall always take place in compliance with the admissibility requirements as regulated by law.

In particular, we make certain data available to other users or third parties worldwide to fulfill our contractual obligations. This does not require either an adequacy decision pursuant to Article 45 of the EU GDPR or appropriate safeguards pursuant to Article 46 of the EU GDPR.

In cases where the transfer of data to a third country does not serve the fulfilment of our contractual obligations, we have not received consent from you, the transfer is not necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, and no other exemption clause applies, we shall only transfer your data to a third country when an adequacy decision pursuant to Article 45 of the EU GDPR or appropriate safeguards pursuant to Article 46 of the EU GDPR are in place.

In general, we provide for appropriate safeguards by closing standard data protection clauses as decreed by the European Commission with the recipient body pursuant to Article 46 of the EU GDPR, as well as an adequate level of data protection.

13. Processing the Data

The information collected by skillreveal is stored and processed by skillreveal’s sub-processor, Amazon Web Services (“AWS”), leveraging AWS data centers located within the continental Europe. Processing of the information collected about you is only undertaken for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

14. Amendment of the Privacy Policy

New legal requirements, business decisions or technical developments may require changes to our privacy policy. The privacy policy will then be adapted accordingly. An up-to-date version is available at our website. We recommend that users regularly review our Privacy Policy in order to be informed about the actual state.
